Twenty-five-year-old Jack is under pressure by his newly married friend and his mother to find a mate, get married, and have children, leading him to go on a string of bad dates in the amusing short story, The Long Road to Love by Steve Miller and Lizzy Stevens. Having close relationships with his mother and his childhood friend Jade, Jack is content with his life. However, his happily married friend Denny is determined to see Jack in a romantic relationship and therefore keeps setting him up on blind dates. Each date is worse than the one before, and periodically Jack needs Jade to come and rescue him. In one such debacle, his date relates to them as a married couple moments after meeting. Jade answers his SOS text, delivering Jack from yet another disastrous date. How many more dating fiascoes must Jack endure before Denny lets him off the hook or he finds an acceptable companion? In the meantime, will Jade always be there to support him?

Centered around a single man's dating woes, the entertaining short story, The Long Road to Love by Steve Miller and Lizzy Stevens, is an enjoyable depiction of a man's journey from friendship to love. Containing a clean and witty plot with relatable characters, it is a humorous analogy with just a hint of romance that hits the spot. Jack, Jade, and his mother's characters are engaging and droll, and I thoroughly enjoyed their relationships, perceptions, and sense of humor. Realistically capturing the pressures and hazards that go hand in hand in the search for a compatible mate, it is an amusing story that will delight those who appreciate the ups and downs of the dating world.
